Here's some useful information to help with planning or purchasing your underfloor heating materials from Tile Mountain.

ezemat

Mats are fast to install and have a fixed cable space that gives a pleasant even spread of heat over the floor surface. The watts per m2 tell you the power output of a system. The mats are available at 160w or 200w per m2. We recommend that you use the 200w mat in older buildings, conservatories and where more heat is required.

This is the same cable used in our mats, just loose for easier application in irregular shaped areas, like bathrooms. Loose cables are adhered to the floor using the fixing tape provided

Waterproof insulation boards

Insulation boards provide a perfect subfloor for tiling and are highly recommended for underfloor heating, especially when installing on old concrete subfloors. In tests with our underfloor heating products, the floor warming time on an uninsulated floor was cut from over one hour to less that 30 minutes.

ETS Thermostats

The thermostat is essential as it controls when your heating will come on, go off and the exact temperature you wish the floor and air to be. Each thermostat comes with a floor probe that is installed in the adhesive layer, midway between 2 heating cables. Our thermostats are rated at 16amps and come in either black or white.

Buying and sizing advice

The most important part about underfloor heating is that you never order too much, you cannot simply cut the end of the mat or cable off. Ordering the correct size is imperative. Calculate the square metres of the room allowing for a 10cm border and any fixed furniture. The heating only needs to go in areas free of permanent furniture (Baths, etc).
